Legal: CryptoLogic Suffers Due to U.S. Legislation (Europe)

“CryptoLogic, the publicly listed gaming software provider whose partners include World Poker Tour, William Hill, Sun Poker, InterPoker, and Playboy, today reported a 46.5 percent decrease in revenues in the second quarter of 2007.

The company generated revenue of $16.2 million and said the decrease from $30.2 million in the second quarter of 2006 was “due largely to the impact of the U.S. prohibition of Internet gaming.”

Event: Europe’s Largest Poker Tournament Ever?

“Irish poker tournament organisers Poker Ireland have teamed up with Danish online site Mermaid Poker to launch what they hope will be the largest ever tournament to take place on European soil. The event, the International Poker Open, will take place on Saturday, October 6th and Sunday, October 7th 2007 in the Royal Dublin Society Shelbourne Hall and the Jackpot Club, Dublin.

World Series of Poker ups the ante, expands event to Europe

“In the midst of this year’s record-setting World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, Jeffrey Pollack is preparing for another first.

The world’s biggest poker event is going global in September — sort of a “Poker Europa,” the World Series of Poker Europe on Sept. 6-16 in London. The event includes a three-day H.O.R.S.E. tournament, a two-day Pot-Limit Omaha tournament and a six-day No-Limit Texas Hold’em tournament.

“It’s our first step forward to meaningful international expansion,” said Pollack, the WSOP’s commissioner. “I think long-term — long-term being the next 12 to 36 months — we are looking to launch other events around the world….”
